Liverpool Spider Forces Tunnel To Close

As fears grow that the Liverpool Spider - La Machine - will make a break for Chester, the Birkenhead Tunnel will be closed on Sunday 7th September 2008.

La Machine is a huge mechanical spider that made a shock entrance to the world stage by appearing out of nowhere on Wednesday morning - clinging to the side of an empty office block in Liverpool.

As our video shows, massive crowds flocked to Liverpool to see the spider explore the streets.

The spectacle, part of Liverpool Capital Of Culture Year, ends when the spider arrives at the entrance of the Birkenhead Tunnel on Sunday evening.
